![]() Kim Butler – kindly took a break from her 24-hour-media-party-lifestyle to be our registrar,Īlicia Armet – took a break from running the buggy around the fields to hand out finish tokens with help from young Alex Armet, whom I hope made sure none of the tokens went un-chewed, Sterling work done by Highbury first-timer Chris Bowern, saw him win the Age Graded contest with 80.14% for a run of 21:19, placing him a very solid second on the VM65-69 record table.Įxcellent PBs were had by Mark Guven, Alisdair Tozer, Dom Weinberg, Michael Perrett and Anne Marie Maclaren! So keep up the excellent work.Īs ever a massive Parkrun thank you to my first rate team of truly terrific volunteers, whom I personally will always cherish and hold close to my heart:ĭeborah Roback – our glamorous, mysterious, be-aviated RD (which is in fact her initials backwards), Followed very quickly by Baard Lyngnes with a PB worthy 18:02 (77.45% - 2 nd on the day), who was soon joined by Ben Molloy in at 18:13 (74.38%). After whom came in Rebecca Wilson, finishing in 22:43 (41 st – 65.15%), in her 2 nd parkrun and first at Highbury, of we hope many more.Ĭertainly a day for the young’uns, another 15-19 first-timer, Pol Solanelles (possible friend of Nuria), made it look very easy, by strolling home first in 17:57 (74.28%). Nuria Tio Peig took a hefty bite out of the JW15-19 record, resetting it two minutes lower at 21:01 (25 th overall at 71.21%), and that at her very first parkrun! She also came in first out of the ladies, so come back soon Nuria, we expect great things from you!Ĭlosely following her of the ladies was Nicola Ayton in at 21:13 (27 th - 69.76%), to create a very convincing third consecutive PB at Highbury Fields. After having achieved the same feat in his previous two parkruns (being Crystal Palace and Burgess Park), he is clearly on some kind of record making spree and the authorities should be informed. So a big hand to veteran runner/parkrun rookie Joseph Aspinall for taking the VM 75-79 record in a dashing 25:06, graded at 75.50%, was the third highest on the day. I’d like to think that by then we’ll have recovered both the bag with the hi-vis jackets and token 29.Īpologies for the late report, especially for such a tantalizing run which hosted a century of runners, 33 new comers, 19 PBs and two new age records ran on a beautifully blue-skied morning, the likes of which can only been seen on a Saturday morning in Highbury Fields. I tried to remember where to put the stakes and how to upload the results.ĭeborah is RDing again next week but we really need some other bods to help out – email if you’re free. The whole thing was wonderfully orchestrated by Mr & Mrs parkrun, Deborah and John Roback, with assistance from Martin (timing) and Rob (scanning). Jon P came tantalisingly close to ducking under 21 minutes for the first time and John C – by his own admission – hasn’t run as fast as 21:14 since he was firebombed in that restaurant in Mogadishu. The regulars – Mark G, Rob, John F, Nadi, Stephen, Brigid and Lizzy among them – all put in a decent shift, but why Dr Paul would try to hide-away on his comeback is anyone’s guess (although I’m sure young Alfie won’t mind a new PB of 20:11). The first woman over the line, in 19:38, was Jane HODGSKIN, to record a second win on this course. Vital stats from the top of the pile saw Heathside’s Tom ALDRED romp home in 16:03 to record his fourth victory in as many appearances at Highbury (his age grading of 81.72% was, unsurprisingly, also the best of the day). There were 18 PBs today, two baby buggies on track, and tourists from far and wide (Dundee! Southampton! Colchester! Milton Keynes! Huddersfield! Croydon!). A respectable turnout of 72, featuring 20 Highbury Fields newcomers, braved the early bank holiday drizzle for event 94.
